为什么不告诉家人你都经历了些什么？有什么苦衷

来听今天的讲解:

A:  For two years, you put us through hell, Alex! We thought you were dead! Why couldn’t you talk to me about what you’re going through?

两年了，你让我们受着地狱般的煎熬，Alex，我们还以为你已经死了！为什么不告诉我你都经历了些什么？

B:  I need a new life. We’re not all born into the life we’re supposed to have.

我需要新的生活，不是每个人天生就能过上想要的生活的。

A:  Well, we all got new lives … full of grief and rehab.

是啊，我们倒是都过上新生活了，悲伤透顶，进出戒毒所。

B:  I never thought I’d see any of you again! Then Fey died, and I realized I had a chance to get back at dad.

我都没想过，还能见到你们。后来Fey死了，我意识到我可以报复爸爸了。

A:  Get back at dad for what? Worshipping you too much?

报复爸爸干嘛？因为他太崇拜你了？

B:  He wasn’t worshipping!

他才不是崇拜我！

A:  Oh, cp,e pm, Alex. You were the golden child. Dad did everything with you. Boy Scouts, football games …

哦，得了吧，Alex，你是我们家的掌上明珠，爸爸什么事都乐意为你做——参加童子军，一起玩足球……

B:  Daniel, he figured it out. He hoped tossing a ball around would change things. When I told him I was gonna do this …

Daniel，他发现了事实。他正是希望通过玩球来改变一切。后来当我告诉他，我准备这么做……

A:  You actually told him?

你真的告诉他了？

B:  He said if I went through with the surgery, I’d lose everything. The company, the money … our family. And then, just to make sure I got the message loud and clear … he said he’d rather I were dead.

他说，要是我做了手术我就会失去一切。公司，财富，甚至于家庭…… 为了确保我明确了解他的意思…… 他说，与其如此，我还不如死了算了。

A:  Why didn’t you tell me?

你为什么不告诉我？

B:  Because you’re just like dad. I didn’t want to be rejected twice. This isn’t nearly as fun as it used to be.

因为你跟爸爸一摸一样啊，我可不想被拒绝两次。这已经不像以前那么好玩了。
