A Utah man unveiled a McDonald’s burger from two decades ago and it still looks like it was fresh off the grill, as seen in a new video.

近日，美国犹他州的一名男子推出了一款20年前的麦当劳汉堡，从视频中可以看到，这款汉堡看起来仍然像是刚从烤架上拿下来的。

David Whipple, of Heber City, purchased what he nicknamed the “world’s oldest hamburger” at a Logan McDonald’s on July 7, 1999, to use in a presentation on deterioration, reports KUTV 2 News in Salt Lake City.

However, Whipple’s plan backfired spectacularly after he left the sandwich in his coat pocket and didn’t find it until 14 years later, according to a video by KUTV 2 from 2013, when his wife rediscovered the antique burger. Despite lasting almost three presidencies, the miracle meat patty looked fresh and didn’t give off any smell, he said at the time.

Stunned by its longevity, the couple put the fast-food fountain of youth on eBay, where it went up to “something like $2,000,” said Whipple. But they opted not to sell the hamburger, and instead saved the immortal patty and bun in a tin which resembles a Big Mac.

Recently, Whipple opened the sandwich sarcophagus for the first time in six years to discover that the burger hadn’t changed much. In a video for the news station, he quipped the burger only faintly smelled of cardboard and “the pickle’s the only thing that’s disintegrated.”

“It looks like you could just heat this up in the microwave and just eat it,” Whipple’s daughter Julie Jackson said, adding that “you’d probably die.”

This isn’t the first fast-food item that defied Father Time. A McDonald’s superfan in Iceland went viral with a burger and fries that showed no signs of decay despite being ordered in 2009.
