What is the white pollution　什么是白色污染
     White pollution refers to plastic pollution. It is a new member of pollution family, but it grows fast. Unrecyclable plastic lunch boxes line along railroads. Plastic shopping bags dance in the wind. When leaders are busy mapping out blueprints for the future, white pollution becomes their headache.
     In this fast-paced world, the convenience of eating take-out and using single-use tableware draws in more and more people.
     But despite their handiness, the plastic bags and foam plastic food containers have been associated with "white pollution", because they are non-degradable.
     Still, packaging experts have recently said it's not the products alone that are to blame for the environmental pollution. The public needs to examine their own conducts and enforce strict codes in these products'production, disposal and recycling.
     Starting in early 1980s, cheap, sanitary and food-preserving containers made of Styrofoam, a major type of foam plastics, won favor among Chinese people. It became widely used on trains and in the fast food industry.
     However, people's environmental awareness did not keep up with rapidly increasing production of Styrofoam packaging.
     It was common for people to toss the containers after using them, resulting in white disposable tableware littered everywhere, many piling up along the railways and floating in the rivers.
     Such unpleasant terms as "the white Great Wall" and "white blanket" are often used to describe the messy scenes throughout cities.
     Everything in the life circle deserves its place on earth. If we continue using plastic lunch boxes, shopping bags and other unrecyclable plastic products, what would happen? One day we might bury us in an ocean of white rubbish and then the earth would be a dustbin.
     To prevent this nightmare from coming true, governments need to work closely with each other and back up their verbal commitment by actions. However, it is not enough only to ask what governments can do to get rid of white pollution. We must ask ourselves what we as individuals can do to color the earth green instead of white.
     所谓"白色污染"(white pollution)是指由农用薄膜(agricultural film)、包装用塑料膜、塑料袋和一次性塑料餐具(disposable plastic dinnerware)（以下统称塑料包装物）的丢弃所造成的环境污染。由于废旧塑料包装物大多呈白色，因此称之为"白色污染"。我国是世界上十大塑料制品生产和消费国之一，所以"白色污染"日益严重。白色污染是我国城市特有的环境污染(environment pollution)，在各种公共场所都能看见大量废弃的塑料制品(plastic product)。它们从自然界而来，由人类制造，最终归结于大自然时却不易被自然所消纳，从而影响了大自然的生态环境(ecologic environment)。

     Lucy: You should prepare a hop pocket or a paper bag, and you'll not need the plastic bag.
     露西：你应当自己准备一个布袋子或者纸袋，这样就不用塑料袋了。
     James: But it is inconvenient to take hop pocket, and the paper bag is easy to break.
     詹姆士：但是带着布袋很不方便，纸袋又容易破。
     Lucy: Don't you hear about white pollution? Plastic bag is one of the pollutants. The garbage will be buried and plastic bag is very hard to degrade, which will damage the soil.
     露西：难道你没有听说过白色污染吗？塑料袋就是白色污染物之一。这些垃圾都会被填埋，而塑料袋很难降解，这就会对土壤造成严重的损害。
     James: I known, but I always neglect it, I will concern more about it in the future. Is there anything else that belongs to the white pollution?
     詹姆士：这个我知道，只不过常常忽略，以后我会注意。白色污染物还有哪些呢？
     Lucy: Such as preservative film and disposable lunch box.
     露西：比如食品的保鲜膜以及一次性餐盒。
     James: Really? Those are what I always use, especially the disposable lunch box. Because I often have meal outside, so I'll use several lunch boxes every week.
     詹姆士：是吗？这些都是我经常使用的，尤其是一次性餐盒。因为我经常在外面吃饭，所以几乎每周都会使用几个餐盒。
     Lucy: You pay so little attention to environmental protection. You should cultivate good living habit, which not only benefit the environment but good for yourself. Using disposable lunch box do great harm to your health.
     露西：你对环境保护的关注太少了。应该养成良好的习惯，减少白色垃圾的使用，这样不仅对环境有好处，对你自身也是有益的。要知道，经常使用一次性餐盒对身体有很大的损害。
