Cleaning Knives

清理刀子

My daughter Laura and her classmates were baking acake in cooking class one day. After about 35minutes the teacher said, “Laura, would you checkon the cake? Just put a knife in it, and if it comes outclean the cake is ready.”

一天，女儿劳拉和同学们上烹饪课，正在烤蛋糕。大约35分钟后，老师说：“劳拉，去看看蛋糕吧?把刀子插进去，拿出来很干净就证明蛋糕烤好了。”

After about 10 minutes Laura came back. “Whattook you so long?” the teacher asked.

大约10分钟后，劳拉才回来。“怎么那么长时间?”老师问。

“Well,” said Laura, “I stuck the knife in the cake and it came out so clean that I stuck all theother dirty knives in too.”

“哦，”劳拉说，“我把刀子插进去，拿出来很干净，于是就把所有的脏刀子都插进去了。”
