谓语大体上可以分为两类：
1 .简单谓语(simple Predicate )
简单谓语由一个动词(包括成语动词)构成，不管是什么时态、语态和语气，都是简单谓语：
Don't stand on ceremony .别客气
Do you want a bottle or a can ?你要一瓶还是一罐?
We've been looking forward to this dag .我们一直盼望着这一天。
The measure has been approved .这项措施己被批准。
I applied for the job but they turned down my application because I didn't know German .
我申请那份工作，但他们没接受我的申请，因为我不懂德语。
2 .复合谓语(Compound Predicate ) :
复合谓语多由两部分构成，一类由一个系动词加一个不定式(带to 或不带to )构成(a ) ，一类由系动词加表语构成(b ) :

Maybe wrong .我可能是错的。
You'll have to be careful .你得小心。
She seem to have lost her confidenCe .她似乎己失去了信心。
b.
Many years he remained single .许多年他一直是单身。
That's my view .这是我的看法。
These flowers smell nice .这些花很香。
This sound a good idea .这听起来是一个好主意。
有些谓语介乎两者样间：
She returned a mother of three children .她回时已是三个孩子的妈妈了。
