The argument on how to get the balance rightbetween the right to privacy in private life and theimportance of having a free press working in thepublic interest to expose truth is still continuing. When I look for guidance in the New Testament, Icome across these striking words said byJesus, there's nothing covered up that will not beuncovered, nothing hidden that will not be madeknown. Therefore everything you've said in the darkwill be heard in broad daylight and what you'vewhispered behind closed doors will be shouting fromthe house tops. It looks therefore, as said, the New Testament is unequivocally on the side oftransparency. In private life, as the New Testament stresses, we shouldn't do anything we willbe ashamed to have revealed, and in public life, apart from exceptional circumstances, transparency must be the guiding principle.
