① calm可用作形容词和动词。

（1）用作形容词，calm可以表示“（人、水面）平静的，（人）沉着的，（天气）无风的”，常指天气、海洋、人的内心，可作表语和定语。

She spoke in a calm voice. 她以平静的声音讲话。

The sea is calm again. 大海又平静了。

He remained calm in facing the danger. 面对危险，他保持镇静。

It was a calm evening. 那是一个宁静的晚上。

（2）作动词时，calm可作及物动词和不及物动词，意为“（使）安静，（使）镇定”，结构为：

calm down

calm sb.（down）
