① intellect是“才智，智能”，比intelligence（ability to learn and understand 聪颖，灵性）高，人类以外的动物可能是 intelligent，只有人类才具有 intellect。intellectual是“受过教育的”意思（highly educated）。intellect和intellectual都可作名词表示人，intellect是指“才智很高的人”，intellectual是“知识分子”。
