① middle指“中间部分，中部”，但不一定是正中心。

Don't stand in the middle of the road. 不要站在路中间。

② centre指场所的正中心，中心点；常用于比喻中。

Here is just the centre of the city. 这儿正是城市的中心。

It is the commercial centre of the country. 它是这个国家的商业中心。
