1. that表语从句
1）常接表语从句的联系动词有be, look, remain, seem等。
It seems that/as if it is going to snow.
好像天要下雪。
The truth is that she was ill that day.
真相是那天她病了。
2）引导表语从句的that不可省略。
All I can tell you is that he gives me the book every time I pass it to him.
我所有能告诉你的是每次我把书本给他他都把书本给我。
3）表示事实、真理等实际内容的表语从句其主语常是：fact, truth, advantage, odd, explanation, position, problem等。
The fact is that he didn't notice the car till too late.
事实是他直到为时已晚才注意到了那辆车。
The advantage of solar energy is that it will never run out.
太阳能的优点是它永远不会耗尽。
4）表示某人的意见、信念等的实际内容的表语从句，其主句主语常是：opinion, belief, view, feeling, explanation等。
My opinion is that we take the money into our hands.
我的意见是我们把这些钱掌握在手中。
5）名词性wh-从句若作主语，总是用that从句作表语。
What surprised us is that he made so much progress in such a short time.
我们吃惊的是他在这么短的时间内取得了这么大的进步。
What impressed us deeply was that he could speak English so fluently.
使我们印象深刻的是他能说如此流利的英语。
2. wh-表语从句
1）当表示“是否”时，引导表语从句不能用if, 只能用whether。
The question remains whether we can win the support of the people.
问题仍然是我们是否能赢得人民的支持。
2）常见的句型：that is why ...; this is because ...; the reason is that ...; it is because; the reason why ... is that ..., this is where ..., this is what ..., that is when ..., this is how ..., the problem is wh- ....
He was short of money. That was why he would come to see me.
他缺钱了，这就是为什么他来见我的原因。
The reason why he killed himself was that he wouldn't live any longer.
他自杀的原因是他不想活了。
He was late for school, and that was because he missed the early bus.
他上学迟到了，那是因为他误了早班车。
This is where he was born.
这就是他的出生地。
