i. it作为代词

1. it作为人称代词，代替前文提到事物，也可替代婴幼儿。

Is it a girl or a boy?

他是女孩还是男孩？

Look at my baby. It wears a smile with two teeth in it.

瞧瞧我的小宝宝，他笑中露出两颗牙齿。

Here is a map of France. It's one of the largest countries of Europe.

给你法国地图，这是欧洲最大的国家之一。

2. it可以替代指示代词this, that。

This is my book. It is an English book.

这是我的书本，是一本英语书。

—It's a schoolbag.

3. it作“这，那”解，指心目中或上下文中的人或事。

There's a knock at the door. Who is it? It's the milkman.

有人敲门，是谁呢？是送牛奶的。

It's your Mum on the phone.

你妈妈来电话找你。

4. it作为无人称动词的主语，表示天气、时间、季节、气温、距离、环境等。

It was hot/rainy/foggy.

天气很热/有雨/有雾。

—It's just seven o'clock.

——刚刚七点。

It is about ten kilometers from here to the stadium.

从这里离体育场大约10公里远。
