请别人帮忙做事时，在句子前面加by any chance，表示“有机会的话……”，很委婉，听起来你是一个如此有修养的人，classy! elegant!

比如：

• By any chance，could you help me to ask your sister to come down？

• Will you be going to the finance meeting tomorrow by any chance?

 

用please 要注意：

• 要把please放在句尾。不然放在句首，听起来会很不耐烦。

例如：

Could I have a glass of water，please? ✅

Please，could I have a glass of water? ❌

因为 please 放在句首会稍微带一点要求命令的语气。

 

常用英文写邮件的小伙伴注意啦：

书面语中，比如在给客户或老板写邮件时：

• 可以把please替换成could you…或may I…等疑问句，

• 或者换成……will be highly appreciated/ I'd appreciate it if……
