    The mocking-bird gets into a furious passion at the sight of his enemy.

    知更鸟一看到它的敌人,就进入暴怒的状态。

    He darts upon him with the rapidity of an arrow;

    它会将自己以飞镖一样的速度射出,

    and keeping out of the reach of his fangs, strikes him violently on the head,

    张着它的尖牙,狠狠地袭击黑蛇的头,

    —the part where he is most easily hurt.

    ——这是它最容易攻击到的地方。

    The snake, finding he has met his match, draws back a little; and the mocking-bird redoubles his blows.

    黑蛇,发现自己遇到了对手,向后退了一点点,知更鸟立即更用力地啄。

    The snake seems to think that he had better get out of the scrape as quickly as he can;

    黑蛇似乎认为,它最好尽快地摆脱困境;

    and, descending to the ground, he tries to glide away, and hide himself among the bushes.

    它滑到地上,试着逃走;还把自己藏到灌木里。

    But the intrepid bird follows him, and continues the battle with great spirit.

    但是,这只勇猛的鸟儿跟着它,依然抱持着极大的斗志在搏斗。

    The snake gets decidedly the worst of it.

    很显然,黑蛇遇到了最糟糕的情况,

    His powers of fascination avail him nothing.

    它的魔力对它来说毫无用处。

    The mocking-bird, seizing him, lifts him from the ground, and then lets him drop, beating him all the time with his wings.

    知更鸟抓住了它,将它从地上提起来,然后又摔下去,用翅膀一直击打它。

    Indeed, he never rests until he has pecked him to death.

    确实,它直到把蛇啄死后,才停了下来。

    Then he flies back to the tree, and settling himself on the highest branch,

    然后知更鸟又飞回树上,落在最高的树枝上,

    pours forth a torrent of song, as if in praise of his victory.

    一首接一首地唱着歌,好像在称颂自己的胜利。
