423　join, join in, take part in和attend

1　join 用作及物动词，表示“参加，加入”，后面可以跟团体、组织作宾语，也可以跟人作宾语。常用搭配为：

join the army参军

join the League入团

join the club参加俱乐部

join the Party入党

join the team入队

join sb. （代词或名词）和某人一起（干）

join sb. （代词或名词） in sth./ in doing sth. 和某人一起进行某项活动

He joined the army two years ago. 他2年前入伍的。

When did your brother join the Party ? 你哥哥什么时候入党的？

Would you like to join us ? 你愿意和我们一起干吗？

She joined the students in a walk. 她和学生们一起散步。

2　join 用作及物动词，表示“连接”。

The two villages are joined by a bridge. 这两个村庄被一座桥连接起来。

3　join in 表示“参加”某项活动或工作，后跟work, talk, match, game等。

He will join in the work. 他将参加这项工作。

Will you join in the game? 你参加这场比赛吗？

Will you join us in the talk ? 你参加我们谈话吗？

He joined in the match. 他参加了那场比赛。

He joined us in the match . 他和我们一起比赛。

4　join sth. to sth. 表示“把某物同某物连接起来”。

He joined this line to that one. 他把这条线同那条线连接起来。

5　join 是非延续性动词，在完成时中不能同表示一段时间的状语连用，要改用如下结构：

have/ has been+in+the+团体名词

has been+a+身份名词 （单数 ）

have been+身份名词 （复数 ）

It is+时间名词+since从句 （用一般过去时 ）

他们入团已经2年多了。

They have joined the League for over two years. （误）

They have been in the League for over two years. （正）

It is over two years since they joined the League. （正）

6　take part in 指参加活动、劳动、工作、事业、战争等，并起应有的作用，常可同join in 换用。

His grandfather took part in the Second World War. 他爷爷参加过第二次世界大战。

About thirty countries took part in the World Cup. 大约有30个国家参加了世界杯赛。

They are required to take part in the activity. 他们被要求参加这项活动。

7　attend 表示“出席”，相当于be present，一般指出席会议、典礼、婚礼等，也可指听课、听报告等，为正式用词。

He attended an important meeting yesterday. 他昨天出席了一个重要会议。

I'll attend a social gathering. 我将参加一个社交聚会。

attend to表示“专心于，留意”，attend on表示“侍候，看护”。
