Pakistan protests Biden's speech questioning the safety of Pakistan's nuclear weapons

Pakistan formally protested Saturday against U.S. President Joe Biden's remarks questioning the safety of Pakistan's nuclear weapons.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told a news conference in Karachi, "We have summoned Mr. Donald Blome, the US ambassador to Pakistan, to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A formal note."

Biden said Thursday night at a Democratic congressional fundraiser that Pakistan could be "one of the most dangerous countries" in the world with nuclear weapons, sparking Pakistan's dissatisfaction.

Zardari said, "As far as the security of Pakistan's nuclear assets is concerned, we meet all and every international standard set by the International Atomic Energy Agency."

He Said he was surprised by Biden's remarks, arguing that it was a "misunderstanding" caused by the lack of engagement between the two countries. He also said that Biden did not make the above statement in a formal setting or when addressing the country.

Zardari said, "We should give them a chance to explain this position. I don't think this should have a negative impact on the relationship between Pakistan and the United States."

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said there was "nothing new" in Biden's speech and said Biden "believes that a safe and prosperous Pakistan is vital to American interests."
< But Pakistani opposition leader and former prime minister Imran Khan slammed President Biden for questioning the safety of Pakistan's nuclear weapons.

He asked on Twitter, "When did Pakistan show aggression, especially after nuclearization, unlike the US in wars around the world?"

He also Questioning the Pakistani government's statement that it has "restarted" bilateral relations with the United States, said Biden's speech was a "complete failure" of Prime Minister Sharif's foreign policy.
