Great Wall Motor, China’s largest SUV maker, requested a trading halt in Hong Kong on Thursday pending clarification over a report that it was entering a joint venture with BMW that saw its share price spike to a two-year high.

Great Wall’s shares closed 14.3 per cent higher in Hong Kong on Wednesday following a report by a Shanghai-based auto news website that the company was in talks to partner with BMW in China.
周三长城汽车H股收盘上涨14.3%。此前一家上海汽车新闻网站报道称长城汽车正与宝马商谈在中国成立合资公司的事宜。
BMW said in a statement on Wednesday that it does not comment on speculation “as a matter of principle”.
