China’s ratings agency Dagong has downgraded its assessment of US government debt, saying the country is “on the wrong track that departs from logic”, days after officials dismissed reports of waning Chinese demand for Treasuries as “fake news”.

中国评级机构大公国际下调了对美国政府债务的信用评级，称美国正在“偏离正确轨道”。就在几天前，中国官员驳斥了有关中国对美债需求下降的报道，称之为“假消息”。

In a statement, Dagong said the US’s “political ecology” was showing “deficiencies” that make it hard to keep the economy on track. It added:

Under the political ecology which is built by the factional rivalries, factional interests are prioritized, and it is hard for the government to focus on the management of the national economy and social development.

The perennial negative impact of the superstructure on the economic base has continued to deteriorate the debt repayment sources of the federal government, and this trend will be further exacerbated by the government’s massive tax cuts. The increasing reliance on the debt-driven mode of economic development will continue to erode the solvency of the federal government.

上层建筑对经济基础的长期负向作用使美国中央政府偿债来源继续恶化，且这一趋势因政府大规模减税呈加速之势，对债务经济模式的愈加依赖将持续削弱中央政府偿债能力。

Previously, it had said that president Trump’s tax policies “may undermine US solvency”.

此前，大公国际曾表示，特朗普(Trump)税改“或降低美政府偿债能力”。

The new local- and foreign-currency ratings for the US are now BBB+, from A- previously. The outlook remains negative, which means further downgrades could lie ahead.

大公国际决定将美国的本、外币主权信用等级由A-下调至BBB+，评级展望负面(意味着未来评级可能会被进一步调低)。
