Housing prices in Xincheng district, a new housing area on the outskirts of Dandong, jumped 57% overnight, according to a report in Securities Times.

Dandong is right across the Yalu River from Sinuiju, DPRK.
丹东位于鸭绿江边，与朝鲜新义州市隔江相望。
But Lyu Chao, a researcher at the Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences, called the price boom irrational investment behavior based on overoptimistic assumptions.
但辽宁省社科院研究员吕超表示，丹东房价上涨是基于过度乐观的假设下的非理性投资行为。
"Housing prices in Dandong have always been a reflection of the China-DPRK relationship," Lyu said.
吕超称：“丹东的房价一直是中朝两国关系的反映。”
"People's confidence in future trade is growing. It is certain to say the trading relationship will become better, but it is still at the beginning stage, and it is too early to say the economy of Dandong will soar in the short term."
“人们对未来贸易的信心正在增强。可以肯定地说，贸易关系会变得更好，但仍处于起步阶段，现在说丹东的经济在短期内会飙升还为时过早。”
Yang Hongxu, deputy director of E-House China, a real estate services provider, also warnedthat people need to be cautious about buying houses in Dandong.
房地产服务提供商易居中国的副总裁杨红旭也警告称，人们需要对在丹东买房子持谨慎态度。
