Beijing has made progress in the application for its Central Axis to be included in the list of world cultural heritage sites, said Liu Hongchang, spokesperson for the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau, at a press conference on Sunday.

According to a three-year action plan on the conservation of the Central Axis, projects related to cultural relics protection, environmental improvement, and resident relocation have been going well, Liu said.
刘洪昌表示，北京市高标准推进《中轴线申遗保护三年行动计划》，保护修缮、环境整治、搬迁腾退等任务不断取得进展。

"Our draft application text was submitted to the World Heritage Center for format review ahead of schedule," Liu said.
目前，北京中轴线申遗文本草案已提前报送世界遗产中心格式审查。

The Beijing Central Axis is 7.8 kilometers long, starting in the south of the city from Yongding Gate and ending with the Drum Tower and Bell Tower in the north. Most of the significant old-city buildings of Beijing are along this axis.
