2. A baby on the way

For weeks, a 6-year-old boy kept telling his teacher about the baby brother or sister that was expected at his house. One day the mother allowed the boy to feel the movements of the unborn1 child. The 6-year-old boy was obviously impressed2, but he made no comment3. Furthermore, he stopped telling his teacher about the impending4 event.

The teacher finally sat the boy on her lap and said, "Tommy, whatever became of that baby brother or sister you were expecting at home?"

Tommy burst into tears and confessed5, "Mommy ate it!"

妈妈肚子里的小宝宝

一连好几周，一个六岁的小男孩一直对他的老师说自己家里要多出一个小弟弟或小妹妹了。一天，这个小男孩得到妈妈允许后摸了摸妈妈怀孕的肚子，感受到了妈妈肚中胎儿的活动。很显然，这个六岁的小男孩吃了一惊，但什么话也没说出口。更奇怪的是，对于家里这件马上要发生的大事，他再也不对老师提及了。

最后，老师把这个小男孩抱过来坐在自己腿上，问道：“汤米，你一直盼望的小弟弟或小妹妹现在怎么样了？”

汤米突然大哭起来，坦白道：“妈妈把他／她吃了！”
