We did not live long with ease on Peach Blossom Stream;

桃溪不作从容住?

The severed lotus root can’t be united again.

秋藕绝来无续处。

I waited for you on the bridge with red railings then;

当时相候赤栏桥，

Today I seek alone, mid yellow leaves our dream.

今日独寻黄叶路。

The countless mist-veiled peaks have dyed the sky in blue;

烟中列岫青无数，

Twilight is reddened by sunset borne by wild geese.

雁背夕阳红欲暮。

You’re like the cloud sunk in the river by the breeze;

人如风后入江云，

My heart like willow down wet with rain clings to you.

情似雨余粘地絮。
