Dear Mr．Smith，

I'm a student from Shanghai High School．I'm writing to you hoping that my classmates and I intend to work as volunteers in the community you're in charge of this Saturday．

Basically，our plan is that we will first clean the community and then visit the senior citizens living in your community．If needed，we might as well help decorate the activity center as the Spring Festival draws near．

In my opinion，doing volunteering work is as important as studying，especially for students who are eager to make the world a better place．We are going to clean the community because having the environment neat and tidy will lift up everyone's spirit，thus boosting his morality．Meanwhile，the reason why we plan to visit the elderly is that chances are that they often feel lonely，without the company of their children who are busy with work．We will see if we can run errands for them．
