Dear Sir/Madam，

We are students from XX school and we are writing to get your permission for our doing voluntary work in your community，which is quite near our school，for one day this weekend．

Though we are students in Senior Three and are busy with our work，we are still quite concerned about the community around us．To make the community a better living place for every resident，we'd like to do our own bit for it．What's more，we want to know more about the real society through the work，which will bring great benefits to our lives in the future．All these reasons encourage us to apply to you for being volunteers．

As far as we know，there are quite a few old people living in your community whose sons and daughters are too busy to take care of them．Therefore，we feel like caring for them and giving them much warmth．We can help them to do some housework and chat with them about what is happening all over the world as well as their own everyday lives．What the most important is that we can make them feel that they are no longer lonely because many people are caring for them．

We want to do the voluntary work from the bottom of our hearts and we have full confidence in doing it well．So we hope that you will give us the chance to show our abilities．
