Dear Sir/Madam，

I'm writing to you on behalf of my class about our plan that we want to make use of this weekend to do some volunteer work in your community．We faithfully hope that you'll be in favor of our plan．

We'd like to carry out our plan at the nursing house in your community．About thirty of us will take part in the activity and care for the elderly．The students will be divided into three groups．The first group will be in charge of the sanitation tasks including sweeping the floor and cleaning the windows．The second group will talk with the elderly people to relieve them from their loneliness and cheer them up．The third group will see to the performance in the end．The whole activity is to begin at 1 p.m．on Saturday，with duration of about 3 hours．

The reason why we want to organize this activity is that by visiting the nursing house，students will get a vivid idea of life of those lonely old people and therefore lend a helping hand to them．Besides，volunteer work is a good access that exposes the students to the society．It's essential that we students get social experience and develop sympathy for the disadvantaged social group．

If the plan is permitted，I'm sure it'll turn out to be a great success and everyone will get the most out of this enlightening activity．
