The Wilton School Board has proposed a 5.99 percent spending increase. If approved, it would be the largest jump in at least 8 budget cycles. The 5.99% request more than doubles the highest previous year-over-year increase in the last eight years, which was 2.99% for the 2021 to 2022 school year. The biggest driver of the 91.8 million dollar proposed budget remains teachers′ salaries.These account for 64 percent of the total request at 59 million dollars. The 59 million dollars is up from the 56.7 million dollars budgeted for the current school year.

Fewer students mean less federal and state funding.
