Agriculture is a vital industry in China. China's development of farming was throughout its history, which has played a key role in supporting its huge population. Today, China is both the world's largest manufacturer and consumer of agricultural products. China's farmland accounts for 10% of the total farmland in the world,while it supports over 20% of the world's population. This situation puts many pressures on China. Efforts have been made by China to increase the budget for agriculture, enlarge investments, and promote energy efficiency to relieve the strain.
