W:Happy New Year!

M:Happy New Year to you.

W:What did you do for Christmas?

M:I went home to celebrate it with my family, what about you?

W:I went a Christmas party at my friend's house.

M:Why didn't you celebrate it with your family?

W:I went home for Thanksgiving this year, and couldn't afford to go home again for Christmas.

M:I see, what did you do at your friend's party?

W:We decorated the Christmas tree with tissues and ornaments, had a traditional Christmas dinner with roast turkey, and sung Christmas carols.

M:Did you exchange Chrismas gifts with each other?

W:Yes, what about you, how did you celebrate it?

M:My family went to church, open gifts, and then spent the day eating and playing games with each other.

W:Which do you prefer, giving gifts or receiving them?

M:Obviously, I like getting gifts of people, but I feel better about giving people gifts that I know they like.

W:Me too, it feels good to make people happy.

M:I agree.

Dialogue Two

W:Hi Jordan, how are you?

M:I'm fine, and you?

W:Yeah, I'm all right, say, do you happen to know when Spring Festival is it this year?

M:Yes, it's next Saturday.

W:Oh good, I thought I'll miss it, are you going to celebrate it?

M:I don't have any plans to celebrate it, what about you?

W:I'm having some friends and family over for dinner, do you want to come?

M:Sure, are you going to do anything special to celebrate it?

W:Yes, we're going to have a big meal together, play mahjong and make dumplings together.

M:Why do you plan on eating the dumplings?

W:It's a tradition in China to eat the dumplings at eve night.

M:I see, I've never celebrated it the Spring Festival before.

W:Well, you should definitely come to mine this year then, we're going to set off some fireworks in the evening too, it will be a lot of fun.

M:OK, what time should I come by?

W:You can come any time before 6:00 P.M. .

M:Should I bring anything with me?

W:You don't have to bring anything, but if you want to, you can bring a bottle of wine.

M:OK, should I bring some red envelopes for the kids as well?

W:Sure, if you want to, I'm sure they'll appreciate it.
