A cuckoo in the nest

鸟窝中的布谷鸟

Paul's father,

Ken Bruce is an engineer.

He's also an enthusianstic birdwatcher.

Last spring,

去年春天

two little birds appeared in his garden.

花园里来了两只小鸟

Ken installed a webcam,

肯安了一台网络摄像机

and invited his neighbours to log on.

并让邻居上网观看

Everyone watched enthusiastically.

大家都很感兴趣

Soon, there was a little nest.

不久 出现了一个小鸟窝

Then, another bird arrived.

然后又来了一只鸟

It was a cuckoo.

一只布谷鸟

The cuckoo watched patiently.

布谷鸟耐心地观察着

Three little eggs appeared in the nest.

之后鸟窝里出现了3 个小鸟蛋

The cuckoo waited.

布谷鸟等待着

Suddenly, she had her chance.

突然 她的机会来了

The mother wasn't there.

鸟妈妈不在窝里

The cuckoo darted to nest.

布谷鸟冲向鸟窝

In two seconds,

两秒钟后

there was a fourth egg beside the other three.

3个蛋旁边多了一个蛋

After twelve days,

12天后

the young cuckoo hatched.

小布谷鸟孵出来了

The little birds hurried to get food,

小鸟急忙

for the baby cuckoo.

给它找食

Ken's neighbours watched excitedly.

肯的邻居们很激动地观察着

The baby cuckoo picked up the other eggs easily,

小布谷鸟用后背轻易地抬起

with its back,

另外3个蛋

and pushed them out of the nest.

把它们推出了鸟窝

The birds returned and pushed food

小鸟回来了 把食物塞进了

into its mouth.

小布谷鸟的嘴里

After twenty days,

20天后

the cuckoo was enormous!

小布谷鸟长得非常大了

On 6th May,

5月6号

it opened its wings.

它展开翅膀

In a moment,

一会儿

the nest was empty.

鸟窝空了

The show was over.

表演结束了

Ken's neighbours

当然

are all enthusiastic birdwatchers now,
