Let Freedom Reign 让自由战胜一切 Nelson Mandela 尼尔逊·曼德拉

- [00:03.26]Your Majesties,
- [00:06.29]Your Royal Highnesses,
- [00:10.04]Distinguished Guests,
- [00:12.31]Comrades and Friends.
- [00:15.70]Today, all of us do,
- [00:19.65]by our presence here,
- [00:22.29]and by our celebrations
- [00:25.32]in other parts of our country
- [00:27.40]and the world,
- [00:29.64]confer glory and hope to newborn liberty.
- [00:34.74]Out of the experience
- [00:37.23]of an extraordinary human disaster
- [00:39.88]that lasted too long
- [00:43.26]must be born a society
- [00:45.69]of which all humanity will be proud.
- [00:51.30]Our daily deeds
- [00:53.98]as ordinary South Africans
- [00:55.97]must produce an actual South African reality
- [00:59.86]that will reinforce humanity's belief in justice
- [01:05.22]strengthen its confidence
- [01:07.55]in the nobility
- [01:09.32]of the human soul
- [01:11.49]and sustain all our hopes
- [01:13.77]for a glorious life for all.
- [01:16.71]All this we owe both to ourselves
- [01:20.41]and to the peoples of the world
- [01:22.37]who are so well represented here today.
- [01:26.02]To my compatriots,
- [01:33.04]I have no hesitation in saying
- [01:36.48]that each one of us
- [01:38.36]is as intimately attached
- [01:41.60]to the soil of this beautiful country
- [01:43.66]as are the famous jacaranda trees of Pretoria
- [01:47.81]and the mimosa trees of the bush veld.
- [01:52.91]Each time one of us
- [01:55.94]touches the soil of this land,
- [01:57.98]we feel a sense of personal renewal.
- [02:01.31]The national mood changes
- [02:03.86]as the seasons change.
- [02:06.89]We are moved by a sense of joy
- [02:09.18]and exhilaration when the grass turns green
- [02:13.99]and the flowers bloom.
- [02:16.92]That spiritual and physical oneness
- [02:19.50]we all share with this common homeland
- [02:23.24]explains the depth of the pain we all carried
- [02:26.68]in our hearts
- [02:28.65]as we saw our country
- [02:30.57]tear itself apart
- [02:33.04]in a terrible conflict
- [02:35.24]and as we saw it spurned
- [02:38.47]outlawed and isolated
- [02:42.12]by the peoples of the world,
- [02:44.61]precisely because it has become
- [02:46.32]the universal base of the pernicious ideology
- [02:51.33]and practice of racism and racial oppression.
- [02:55.68]We, the people of South Africa,
- [02:58.77]feel fulfilled
- [03:00.90]that humanity has taken us back into its bosom,
- [03:05.46]that we, who were outlaws
- [03:08.54]not so long ago,
- [03:10.62]have today been given the rare privilege
- [03:13.77]to be host to the nations of the world
- [03:16.51]on our own soil.
- [03:22.97]We thank all our distinguished international guests
- [03:31.60]for having come to take possession
- [03:35.20]with the people of our country
- [03:38.94]what is, after all, a common victory for justice,
- [03:43.45]for peace, for human dignity.
- [03:47.20]We trust that you will continue to stand by us
- [03:51.09]as we tackle the challenges of building peace
- [03:53.94]prosperity,
- [03:55.40]non-sexism,
- [03:57.17]non-racialism
- [03:59.06]and democracy.
- [04:01.17]We deeply appreciate
- [04:02.60]the role that the masses of our people
- [04:05.34]and their political mass democratic,
- [04:09.48]religious,
- [04:10.90]women,
- [04:12.37]youth,
- [04:13.52]business,
- [04:14.95]traditional and other leaders
- [04:17.28]have played to bring about this conclusion.
- [04:20.83]Not least among them
- [04:23.47]is my Second Deputy President
- [04:27.97]the Honourable F.W. de Klerk.
- [04:36.87]We would also like to pay tribute
- [04:44.39]to our security forces
- [04:47.02]in all their ranks
- [04:49.19]for the distinguished role
- [04:51.97]they have played in securing our first
- [04:54.61]democratic elections
- [04:57.80]and the transition to democracy,
- [05:00.23]from blood-thirsty forces
- [05:02.65]which still refuse to see the light.
- [05:05.84]The time for the healing of the wounds has come.
- [05:11.91]The moment to bridge the chasms
- [05:15.91]that divide us has come.
- [05:19.69]The time to build is upon us.
- [05:24.14]We have, at last
- [05:25.92]achieved our political emancipation.
- [05:30.11]We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people
- [05:34.11]from the continuing bondage of poverty,
- [05:37.39]deprivation
- [05:38.97]suffering
- [05:40.44]gender
- [05:41.65]and other disCRImination.
- [05:44.83]We succeeded to take our last steps to freedom
- [05:49.07]in conditions of relative peace.
- [05:52.46]We commit ourselves
- [05:55.30]to the construction of a complete
- [05:57.82]just and lasting peace.
- [06:01.32]We have triumphed
- [06:03.65]in the effort to implant hope
- [06:05.53] in the breasts of the millions of our people.
- [06:08.77]We enter into a covenant
- [06:10.65]that we shall build the society
- [06:13.28]in which all South Africans,
- [06:15.86]both black and white,
- [06:17.57]will be able to walk tall,
- [06:19.69]without any fear in their hearts,
- [06:22.77]assured of their inalienable right to human dignity
- [06:27.48]a rainbow nation
- [06:29.50]at peace with itself and the world.
- [06:33.95]As a token of its commitment
- [06:36.28]to the renewal of our country
- [06:38.45]the new Interim Government of National Unity
- [06:41.88]will as a matter of urgency,
- [06:44.91]address the issue of amnesty
- [06:47.14]for various categories of our people
- [06:50.27]who are currently serving terms of imprisonment.
- [06:53.41]We dedicate this day to all the heroes and heroines
- [07:00.13]in this country and the rest of the world
- [07:02.91]who saCRIficed in many ways
- [07:05.34]and surrendered their lives so that we could be free.
- [07:09.69]Their dreams have become reality.
- [07:13.67]Freedom is their reward.
- [07:16.97]We are both humbled
- [07:19.04]and elevated by the honour and privilege
- [07:21.73]that you the people of South Africa,
- [07:24.30]have bestowed on us
- [07:26.78]as the first President of a united
- [07:30.07]democratic
- [07:31.30]non-racial
- [07:32.76]and non-sexist South Africa
- [07:35.08]to lead our country out of the
- [07:41.30]We understand it still
- [07:44.13]that there is no easy road to freedom.
- [07:47.37]We know it well
- [07:48.83]that none of us acting alone
- [07:51.16]can achieve success.
- [07:53.94]We must therefore act together
- [07:55.40]as a united people
- [07:56.81]for national reconciliation
- [07:59.30]for nation building
- [08:01.48]for the birth of a new world.
- [08:04.05]Let there be justice for all.
- [08:06.73]Let there be peace for all.
- [08:11.49]Let there be work,
- [08:13.86]bread, water and salt for all.
- [08:18.61]Let each know
- [08:20.33]that for each the body,
- [08:23.11]the mind and the soul
- [08:24.92]have been freed to fulfill themselves.
- [08:29.33]Never,
- [08:31.20]never
- [08:33.67]and never again
- [08:36.30]shall it be
- [08:37.56]that this beautiful land
- [08:39.89]will again experience the oppression
- [08:42.78]of one by another
- [08:45.41]and suffer the indignity
- [08:55.21]of being the skunk of the world.
- [09:00.68]The sun shall never set
- [09:05.53]on so glorious a human achievement!
- [09:10.78]Let freedom reign.
- [09:13.22]God bless Africa!
- [09:15.24]Thank you.
