前一段时间看了《在云端》这部电影，它的英文名叫做《Up in the air》，光是这个电影的名字，都有很大的学问。
Up in the air,在电影中，讲述的是一名叫瑞恩·宾厄姆的公司裁员专家，他 的工作是飞来飞去为各地公司去解决麻烦，他人生的目标则是乘坐飞机积攒的英里数达到1000万，从而晋升为白金会员。他是一个不折不扣的“飞地达人”。
Up在这里指的是方位，in the air，则指他坐着飞机来往各地。
而Up in the air 本身作为一个短语来讲，也有悬而未决; 未决定的意思，比如这个句子：
He told reporters today that the president's trip to Moscow is up in the air.
今天他告诉记者们总统是否前往莫斯科尚未确定。
How about your interview result? It's up in the air.
你的面试结果怎么样？悬而未决。
如果将up 去掉，只剩下in the air,除了表示“在空(气)中”的意思之外，也有另外一层大多数人忽视的意思。
首先我们来看，in the air-在空气里
因为空气无处不在，那么在空气中的东西，必定是每个人都能看到，感到的，
所以in the air,便引申出了：
可感觉到; 可被意识到的意思
(in the air means something like a mood that everybody can feel)
