在英语中
也有很多短语都有比喻的含义
大体上可分为明喻simile、暗喻metaphor
明喻是用as、like等词将具有某种共同特征的两种不同事物连接起来的一种修辞手法。表达方法是：A像B。
今天就来了解几个明喻相关表达

sell like hot cakes
畅销
“畅销”的英文表达中用了一个比喻
sell like hot cakes“卖得像刚出炉的蛋糕一样”
These new products are selling like hot cakes.
这些新产品十分畅销。
对话
A:How about the sale of this book?
这本书卖得怎么样?
B:It sells like hot cakes.
它非常畅销。
如果想要表示“已售完”时
可以用be out of stock这个短语

as clear as day
一清二楚
字面意思就是：像白天一样清楚
英文释义：very easy to understand
I can remember as clear as day how i wanted to cancel my lesson that morning.
我可以非常清晰地记得那天早上我如何想取消我的课程。

look like a million dollars
显得容光焕发，看上去十分漂亮
不要直接翻译成：看起来像一百万美元
英文释义：to look very good
As she stepped out in her wedding dress, she looked like a million dollars.
当她穿着婚纱走出来时，看起来美呆了。

as light as a feather
轻如鸿毛
直译：像羽毛一样轻
light：形容词，轻的;轻松的
Since she is as light as a feather, I had no problem in carrying her all the way to the hospital.
因为她的身体非常轻，所以我一口气就把她背到了医院，一点也不感到累。
as light as a feather可以形容各式各样的东西
如果是形容食品，意思是：清淡的
The white chocolate cake is not that sweet and is as light as a feather.
那个白巧克力蛋糕不是太甜，非常清淡。

like a cat on hot bricks
焦躁不安;热锅上的蚂蚁
直译：就像热砖上的猫
She was like a cat on hot bricks before her driving test.
她考驾驶执照前十分紧张不安。
You are like a cat on hot bricks with your running to the window to look for the postman.
你老是跑到窗口去望邮递员，真像热锅上的蚂蚁。
还有另外的表达方式：

直译：像小鸟一样自由
But In fact, I like that feel of as free as a bird.
