1　by the way 意为“顺便提一下，顺便问一下”，为惯用短语，在句中用作插入语，常用来提及一件与正题无关的事。

By the way , have you seen Mary recently? 顺便问一下，最近你见到玛丽了吗？

By the way , what time is it now? 顺便问一下，现在几点了？

2　on the/one's way to 表示“在去……的路上，在途中”，to 后面接名词。如果way后面跟表地点的副词，则不用to。

They are on the way to school. 他们在去上学的路上。

On the way there I met an old friend of mine. 在去那儿的路上，我遇到了一位老朋友。（不可说on the way to there ）
