1　cause 泛指引起某个结果的直接原因，自然界的原因。

What's the cause of the accident? 这起事故的起因是什么？

2　reason 是逻辑上的理由，做某事的理由，原因。

The reason why he didn't come is that he was ill. 他没有来的原因是他病了。
