THE MOON GODDESS

五月十五夜玩月

The wind and tide run high;

风高浪快，

I ride the Toad miles and miles up the sky.

万里骑蟾背。

I see the Moon Goddess dance with grace,

曾识姮娥真体态，

Unpowdered her pure face.

素面元无粉黛。

I tour the silver palaces with towers impearled;

身游银阙珠官，

Below I can’t discern the mist-veiled world.

俯看积气濛濛。

Drunk, the Moon Goddess shakes the laurel trees,

醉里偶摇桂树，

On earth blows a cool breeze.

人间唤作凉风。
