Ghana is Preparing for Swearing in

In West Africa. Ghana is preparing for the swearing in on Sunday of John Kofuor as president. His election ends 19 years of rule by President Jerry Rollins. The Ghanaian constitution【宪法】 barred Mr. Rollins from seeking another term. Mr. Kofore is a lawyer and former cabinet【内阁】 minister. He was the Opposition candidate(1) in the elections last month. He defeated(2) Vice President John Attenmuse. A new Ghanaian parliament【议会】 also will be sworn in Sunday. The New Patriotic Party led by Mr. Kofuor won half of the 200 seats. The former ruling【执政的】 National Democratic Party will hold 92 seats.
