The Chinese man on the left is wearing a business suit and tie while the Western man on the right is wearing a Tang suit-a traditional Chinese costume. The Chinese man is saying, "Happy Spring Festival! You are wearing a more traditional Chinese costume than I am." The Western man is saying, "It's fashionable these days."

Whereas once in China it was commonplace to see Chinese people wearing traditional Chinese clothing and following traditional Chinese customs, it is now becoming rarer and rarer as many Chinese people have largely adopted Western culture. However, the Western man above is implying that Western people today have embraced traditional Chinese culture. If this is true, it is unfortunate that Western people are spearheading this trend and not the Chinese ourselves.

It would be a shame to see Chinese traditions and culture being absorbed by the West while being neglected by some Chinese here at home. We should appeal to Chinese fashion and other designers to initiate more "Designed and Created in China" brands that would highlight the best of traditional and contemporary Chinese clothing that could be worn by both Chinese and Western people.
