1．Halloween 万圣节

Halloween一词的产生：很多民族都在万圣节前夜有庆典聚会，这又被叫做“All Hallow E'en”、“The Eve of All Hallows”、“Hallow e'en”，或者“The eve of All Saintas' Day”。最终约定俗成演变成了“Halloween”，中文意译成了万圣节之夜。

2．Trick or treat

“不请吃就捣蛋”（指万圣节孩子们挨家逐户要糖果等礼物，如不遂愿便恶作剧一番的风俗。）

3．Mean

mean做形容词有许多意思，来看几个其它的含义：

①平均的；普通的

What is the mean temperature in that locality?

那个地方的平均气温是多少?

②吝啬的，小气的

Her husband is very mean about money.

她的丈夫在金钱上很吝啬。

③【俚】出色的,很棒的

4．jump out of your skin

jump就是跳；jump right out of one's skin要是直译的话，就是某人从皮肤里跳出来。这当然是不可能发生的，所以你永远也不可能看到这种现象。实际上，to jump right out of one's skin是指一个人由于突然发生的事，或者是由于没有预料到的危险，使他吓一跳。

    万圣节最著名的歌曲是哪首？当然是This Is Halloween了。此歌曲是蒂姆伯顿Tim Burton 电影《圣诞夜惊魂》的主题曲。此歌曲有几个版本，这里介绍一下Marliyn Manson演唱的版本。

      Marliyn Manson（玛莉莲·曼森）其实是一个乐团名。乐队原名Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids，Marilyn Manson是主音的艺名，而Spooky Kids则是指团中其他队员，在一九九二年，名字缩短至Marilyn Manson。乐队中每人的名称均以出名杀人犯为姓，和美艳艺人为名。如主音的名称就是取材自性感女神Marilyn Monroe（玛丽莲·梦露）以及美国杀人魔王Charles Manson（查尔斯·曼森）。他们取名的原因是喜欢“美丽”与“恐怖”的矛盾和对比。
