出差住3天，不是live three days

赴海外出差，或是接待海外来访的同事，如果问How long will you live here?（要在这里住多久？）虽然外国人脑筋转个弯也听得懂，但力求精准会更好。以下列举几个与出差有关的错英文的例子：

1 　要在这里住多久？

（×）How long will you live?

这种短暂的“住”不是live，而是stay。这句话可以说成：

（○ ）How long are you staying ?

（○ ）How long will you be staying ?

2 　我想拜访约翰逊先生。（在柜台前和服务人员的对话）

（×）I would like to visit Mr. Johnson.

（○ ）I am here to see Mr. Johnson.

visit和see都有“探望、拜访”的意思，如果是计划拜访某人，你可以说：I plan to visit some potential clients next week.但已经到门口，事先已经预约好的，用see比较自然。

3 　我要到新加坡出差。

（×）I am going on a business trip to Singapore.

（○ ）I'm going to Singapore on business.

出差的英文是go on a business trip，没错，但英文习惯先讲重点，到新加坡出差是重点，所以应该说go to Singapore on business。

4 　你不知道，这次出差行程安排得有多紧凑。

（×）You don't know how busy the schedule is for this business trip.

（○ ）You don't know how tight the schedule is for this business trip.

人很忙碌用busy，行程很紧凑用tight。

5 　我以前从没来过这里。

（×）I have never been here before.

（○ ）I had never been here.

既然用here，表示我们人一定在那儿，明明人已经在那儿又说没有到过，有点儿矛盾。这时候只要用过去完成时，表示以前没来过就合理了。
