The eyes of the basketball world will turn to Staples Center on Thursday as the NBA regular season draws to a close with Kobe Bryant preparing to bid farewell to the sport.
14日，篮球界的目光都将聚焦斯台普斯中心，因为NBA常规赛季即将迎来科比•布莱恩特的告别。
在报道中，farewell意为“告别”，词性是名词。Bid farewell to/make farewell to 表示向...告别，例如：他向他的家人告别(He made his farewell to his family)。
“告别赛”可以用farewell match表示，也可以用 swan song表示。Swan song这个说法有点决绝和伤感，来源于一个说法，天鹅终其一生都默不出声，但是在死前会发出一段优美的“歌声”。现在的用法中，swan song多被用来指代隐退或者临死之前做出的最后一次努力或表演。
这场比赛是科比的告别赛，也是他最后一次作为球员上场打球(hit/take the court for the last time as a player )。这是体育史上一个标志性的时刻(an iconic moment in sports history)。
科比的告别赛引起了轰动。洛杉矶地铁局为了致敬科比，将距离斯台普斯球馆最近的地铁站暂时改名为“Kobe Station”(科比站)，该站原名为Pico Station，这次临时的更名活动将会持续24个小时。
