    [01:55.99]W: Why do you think people are afraid of tarantulas?
    [01:59.59]M: Well, I guess it's because people are afraid of all spiders, and tarantulas happen to the biggest of all the spider
    [02:07.76]And maybe it's also because some spiders really are very poisonou
    [02:12.62]In California for example---living in most of the garages in California---you get black widow spider
    [02:20.40]which are quite small but they are certainly more dangerous than tarantulas.
    [02:25.66]W: But personally you aren't afraid of tarantulas?
    [02:29.15]M: Well I shouldn't be frightened of tarantulas, simply because I know that they aren't really dangerous---all they can do is to give you a small bit

    [02:41.21]And yet I must say I don't like to pick them up
    [02:44.88]But you see, some people keep pet mice and pet rabbits and wel
    [02:50.75]they can give you a much worse bite than a tarantula ever coul
    [02:54.56]And yet people aren't frightened of them.
    [02:57.52]W: Why do you think people are frightened of spiders?
    [03:00.65]M: I don't know---it's very strang
    [03:03.82]People are frightened of spiders and they are frightened of snake
    [03:07.74]and, well obviously some spiders and some snakes really are poisonou
    [03:13.93]But most snakes are harmless, and it's really strange that people are so frightened of spiders because it's quite difficult to find a spider that's really dangerous.

    [03:56.20]A: Good afternoon, madam. Can I help you?
    [03:57.56]C: Yes. I'm looking for a pet for my son. Can you suggest anything?
    [04:03.83]A: What kind of pet does he want? A traditional pet...a cat... or a dog? Or something unusual?
    [04:11.71]C: Well, he'd like a snake or a crocodile, but he isn't going to get one.
