Asking a Friend

Jacques: Hey Sara! Where are you?

Jacques：嘿，萨拉，你在哪?

Sara: Gosh...I’m still in the office!

Sara：唉，我还在办公室

Jacques: But you told me you’d take a half-day!

Jacques：但你告诉过我你今天只上半天班

Sara: Yeah...but so many people are absent today. I was asked to stay over time!

Sara：是啊，但今天很多人没来，我被要求多待一会

Jacques: Geez...Sorry Sarah. I’m responsible for this too. I couldn’t make it to work either.

Jacques：这样啊，对不起，萨拉，这件事我也有责任。我也不能使它好转起来

Sara: Hey, you know what? I think I can get out in an hour or so. Let me check with the boss!

Sara：嘿，你知道吗?我认为我可以在一小时左右出去，让我和老板商量一下

Jacques: Alright then. We are waiting for you!

Jacques：这样就好了，我们都在等你!

Late at Night

Britney: Jack, are you at work?

Britney：杰克，你还在工作吗?

Jack: I’m at Mr. Miller’s. I’ll be a little late tonite.

Jack：我在米勒先生这，今夜我会晚一点

Britney: Mr. Miller’s? What are you doing there honey?

Britney：米勒先生那?亲爱的你在那做什么?

Jack: It’s his son’s birthday today. He gave us a surprise party at his house!

Jack：今天是他儿子的生日，今天在他家举办了惊喜派对

Britney: Oh! Well, when do you think you can be back?

Britney：哦，好的，你认为可以什么时候回家?

Jack: I want to get out of here as soon I can. I had to come because he’s my boss, you know. Maybe another 15 minutes.

Britney: I will be waiting for you dear.

Asking a Colleague

Sara: Hi Britney!

Britney: Hello there! I was wondering if you were on leave today.

Britney：你好，我想知道你今天是否请假了

Sara: I am on my way, Britney. Just got late!

Sara：我正在路上，布兰妮，就是晚了点

Britney: Traffic jam again?

Britney：又是交通堵塞?

Sara: Even worse! My car broke down.

Sara：比那更糟糕，我车抛锚了

Britney: Hey, that’s terrible! Do you need any help?

Britney：啊，太糟糕了，你需要什么帮助吗?

Sara: No. I got it towed. I took a cab.

Asking an Employee

Miller: Hello Britney.

Miller: Are you coming to the office today?

Britney: Yes, I am. I’m almost there.

Miller: You are so late today!

Britney: I’m sorry Mr. Miller but I had some car trouble.

Miller: I see. I didn’t know that.

Britney: Don’t worry, Sir. I will be in the office in 10 minutes.
