在总结半个世纪中国外交的成就时，用辉煌50年的提法是非常准确的。如果再具体一点，我们起码可以列举两个辉煌来加以说明。第一是艰苦创业的辉煌。新中国刚刚诞生，在周恩来总理兼外长的主持下，外交工作开始起步，以崭新的面貌向全世界宣布旧中国积贫积弱、受尽屈辱、没有外交尊严的时代一去不复返了。有中国共产党领导的、代表了中国人民意志的、为保卫国家利益和世界和平而不懈奋斗的独立自主的外交从此就以辉煌的光焰照耀全世界，这是一次给全世界人民留下了深刻印象的辉煌的日出。

At the time when we summarize the achievements of China's diplomacy in the past half century, it is most appropriate to characterize our half-a-century diplomacy as fifty years of glory. Specifically speaking, we can at least enumerate two kinds of glory as a way of illustration. The first concerns its hard pioneering work in the beginning. When New China was born, with Zhou Enlai, premier and concurrently foreign minister, in charge, the diplomacy of the People's Republic got started with a brand-new look, proclaiming to the whole world that the days were gone forever when a poor and weak China suffered all kinds of humiliation and had no dignity to speak of for its diplomacy. Since then, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, China's independent diplomacy representing the will of the Chinese people and persistently defending the interests of the country as well as world peace has shone radiantly over the world. It is like a brilliant sunrise, leaving a deep impression on the people of the world.
