| The cat went here and there |
那猫儿走来走去的， |
| And the moon spun round like a top, |
月亮则如陀螺般转， |
| And the nearest kin of the moon, |
那位月亮的血亲—— |
| The creeping cat, looked up. |
匍匐的猫儿——抬头看着。 |
| Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon, |
黑色的敏纳娄什紧盯着月亮， |
| For, wander and wail as he would, |
随意地走动，叫着， |
| The pure cold light in the sky |
天上清纯的冷光 |
| Troubled his animal blood. |
搅扰它野性的血液。 |
| Minnaloushe runs in the grass |
敏纳娄什在雪地上跑着， |
| Lifting his delicate feet. |
抬起它轻巧的爪儿。 |
| Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance? |
跳舞吗，敏纳娄什，跳舞吗？ |
| When two close kindred meet, |
当你与月亮相遇， |
| What better than call a dance? |

| Maybe the moon may learn, |

| Tired of that courtly fashion, |

| A new dance turn. |

| From moonlit place to place, |

| Minnaloushe creeps through the grass |

| And lifts to the changing moon |
对天上那轮变幻着的月亮 |
| His changing eyes. |
抬起它变幻着的眼睛。 |
