WRITTEN IN THE BOAT OF A FRIEND

Before my eyes mist-veiled trees on mist-veiled trees stand;
眼中叠叠烟中树,
Evening clouds shed rain drop by drop on lotus blooms.
晚云点点翻荷雨。
Gulls float along smoke-darkened sand;
鸥泛渚边烟,
In overbrimming green rushes autumn looms.
绿蒲秋满川。
I’ve gone overseas
未成江海去,
But stay by pools and woods.
聊作林塘主。
My homeless grief won’t cease;
客恨阔无津,
The wind slants our white hoods.
风斜白叠巾。
