Parliamentary Elections in Thailand

Thailand: The ruling Democrat Party has accepted defeat in the parliamentary elections. Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai says the people wanted political change. Early unofficial results show the party of businessman Tocksin Shanavatra winning a major victory(1). Opinion studies show the Thai Wok Thai Party winning as many as 230 parliamentary seats. The Democrat Party reportedly has won 120 seats. Official results are expected Sunday. However, Mr. Tocksin is charged with failing to declare all his financial property(2)serving in a former Thai government. The businessman denies any wrongdoing(3).
