CNN FN Business Minute, I’m John Martin. The head of the International Monetary Fund says that the cut in interest rates by the European Central Bank is needed to boost(1) the slowing economy of the 12 countries that share the Euro. The ECB decided last week to keep the interest rate unchanged at four and three quarters percent despite slowing growth and tumbling(2) world stock markets. ECB is the only major Central Bank resisting a rate cut. US manufacturing is expected to have declined(3) for an eighth consecutive(4) month in March. The National Association of Purchasing Management releases its numbers today. The Washington Post reports that demand for high tech employees fell 44% in the past year. A study by the Information Technology Association of America finds technology workers are still in need, but changing market conditions have softened(5) the demand. And Wall Street is looking to post a better second quarter. The Dow ended the last day of the first quarter up 79 points. For the CNN FN Business minute, I’m John Martin.
