Who Wants to be a Millionaire
What a jackpot(1) and here’s how it sounded on ABC’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire as Kevin Olmstead, a forty-two year-old environmental engineer, from Ann Arbor of Michigan was given this question.
Host: Who is credited with inventing the first mass-produced helicopter?
Olmstead: I know this. It was the Sikorsky helicopter. My final answer.
Host: Just won two million.
That’s $2,180,000, the richest prize ever awarded by an American game show. I told Olmstead in a later interview, it must have been pretty mind-boggling.
Olmstead: It is for me, yes, quite mind-boggling, like winning the lottery(2) , I suppose.
Olmstead, a former Jeopardy【美国一游戏节目名】 champion is a co-founder(3) of a University of Michigan quiz bowl group.
Olmstead: I’ve always been a sponge(4) for this sort of material; I hope that I won’t change in terms of personality. Maybe pick up a few more tabs【账单;费用】, maybe, I don’t know.
By the way, Olmstead helped coach millionaires last million dollar winner and youngest 24-year-old David Goodman, and like Olmstead also a University of Michigan graduate.
I’m a Bill Deal.
