    Following the suspected suicide of John Barnett in March this year, Joshua Dean, another whistleblower of Boeing's production safety and product quality problems, died of a sudden illness on April 30, at the age of 45.

    Dean, who lives in Wichita, Kansas, has been in good health and leads a healthy lifestyle, the Seattle Times reported on May 1. Family members said that two weeks ago, Dean suddenly went to the hospital with breathing difficulties and was hospitalized, and then his condition continued to deteriorate, and he was diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

    Focusing on that defect, Mr. Dean said, he missed another manufacturing defect in the same audit, involving fittings used to attach the vertical tail to the fuselage. In August of the same year, the company admitted that some 737 MAX aircraft had hundreds of misplaced and repeated holes in the rear bulkhead. That led to another suspension of deliveries at the Renton plant.

    Dean later filed complaints with the Department of Labor and the Federal Aviation Administration, claiming that he had been made a "scapegoat" for "underreporting quality issues" and that he was fired in retaliation for raising concerns related to aviation safety.

Nearly two months after the incident, the police have yet to conclude their investigation.

He was found dead in his car in the hotel parking lot when he failed to appear for questioning on March 9 in his defamation lawsuit against Boeing. According to documents released by his lawyer, Barnett said he had been "harassed, vilified and humiliated" for raising concerns about Boeing's quality control practices.
