TUNE: DOFFING THE PENDANTS
Strolling by flower-bed fine,
My robe fragrant with dew,
I’d confide to spring my verse new.
Often would I send my love,
But swallows won’t carry it above
For him to read by pearl screen my clever line.
Deep, deep am I lovesick;
My sorrow is thick, thick.
How could I forget his whisper by lamplight?
Pear blossoms steeped in pale moon light,
I’d come in borrowed dream to gallery by flowers
To show him my sleeves wet with tears fallen in showers.
