孔子

孔子（公元前551年~公元前479年），中国历史上伟大的教育家、思想家和政治家，是儒家思想 （Confucianism）的创始人。孔子为春秋时期鲁国人。他创办私学，并创立了以“仁 （benevolence）”为核心的道德学说。相传他有弟子三千，贤弟子 （disciple）七十二人，曾带领部分弟子周游列国。他教学的言论以及与弟子们的对话被汇集编纂成《论语》 （The Analects of Confucius ）一书，千古传诵，影响深远。孔子和战国时期儒家代表人物之一的孟子 （Mencius），被后世合称为“孔孟”。

Confucius

Confucius (551 B.C.~479 B.C.), a great educator, thinker and statesman in the history of China, was the founder of Confucianism. Confucius lived in the State of Lu during the Spring and Autumn Period. He set up private schools and created his own ethics with“benevolence”as the core. It is said that Confucius had 3,000 disciples, 72 out of whom were distinguished ones, and he once led part of them to tour around various states. His views on teaching and dialogues with his students were collected and compiled into the book The Analects of Confucius , which has been read through all ages with a far-reaching impact.
